Diet Doctor - Sunday 24th March 2013

A warm but breezy day.  Had some work to do and my wifi was frustrating me so headed into town which was taken over by a fun run of some kind.

Did some hill sprints on the beach in the afternoon and then walked along the sand to Las Brisas and found a cafe with solid wifi - it's the little things that make me happy.

Denia Update

A warm but breezy day in Denia on the Spanish coast.

I thought I was being really clever by setting myself up with a pay-as-you-go wifi dongle so I could have wifi everywhere, but turns out that the coverage is fairly flaky which is more frustrating than not having any wifi whatsoever.

I had some work to do today so I headed into Denia town to set up an office in Valor Chocolates (where they have solid wife and do a decent cortado).

The town had been taken over by a fun run of some kind.  Hundred of runners belting enthusiastically around the streets - good fun to be able to sit outside and watch them pounding past.

Did some hill sprints on the beach in the afternoon and then walked along the sand to Las Brisas and found a cafe with solid wifi - it's the little things that make me happy.

Slowly adjusting to the slower pace of life in Spain.

Diet Doctor - Saturday 23rd March 2013

Another warm, sunny start to the day in Denia but it never really sustained the kind of heat that I was hoping for.

Last night Manuel & Barbara arrived.  They own the flat next door to where I'm staying and are good friends with my Aunt & Uncle.  They called in to say hello on their way to get some groceries.  On their return Manuel presented me with a novelty bakery item:
"It's what we traditionally eat at Easter" he said as he proudly presented it to me.
It was kind of like a big brioche with a brightly dyed blue hard-boiled egg in the middle.
I ate it for breakfast this morning - although I couldn't quite face the egg.

Went for a walk along the beach and worked for a bit at the Cashback Bar over a couple of coffees.  I'm not sure why it's called the Cashback Bar - they do not give you any cash back.

Hung out at the apartment for the rest of the day apart from the odd walk to the supermarket for supplies.

08:00 Wake Up
09:00 Brioche
11:00 Coffee
14:00 Bread/Ham
18:30 Beer
20:00 Chorizo/Fino
21:00 Olives/Red Wine
22:00 Bed

It was good to finally get into my Aunt & Uncle's apartment, grab some supplies from the supermarket and start to focus on building a bit of a routine in my temporary Spanish home.

Went for a walk on the beach to soak up the sun - forced myself into doing a quick set of hill climb sprints on the beach.  Definitely got the blood pumping.  Probably should be doing those every day.

Explored the area - it's too early in the season for most places so this end of town feels a bit like a ghost town but I'm guessing that people will start arriving over the weekend. The "Cashback Bar" was open and doing decent coffee.

The diet continues to be a disaster in Spain...
